How to use a bong correctly

Almost nothing is as embarrassing as sitting around smoking with buddies and not knowing how to use a bong.

Even if you've been around the block a few times, it might be time to learn how to use a bong properly.

Both old hands and total newbies can use a few tips for their next session with the bong, including the anatomy of a bong, how to pack a perfect bowl, and how to inhale correctly.

How to prepare a bong before smoking

Everything starts with a perfect buildup. You can also bang a fat flower into the bowl and light it up, but the smoke will be harsh and irregular. If you prepare the bong properly, you will find the ride much more pleasant.

1. Add water to the base

Bongs benefit from a smoother smoking experience thanks to water filtration. While you can smoke a bong without adding water, that defeats the purpose. You smoke better with a bong than with a pipe because the smoke flows through the water, removing some of the fine smoke particles. Therefore, for the best bong experience, you should always fill the bong with water.

In most cases, you fill the bong with water through the mouthpiece. Use clean, cold water - distilled and unchlorinated if you have it. Fill the bong to the point where the water covers the opening of the bottom stem, but before the water hits a carburetor or choke.

The stem is the long chamber that leads from the bowl into the body of the bong. The smoke flows through this tube into the water and then rises into the chamber before filling your lungs.

2. adding ice to bongs with an ice catcher (optional).

Some bongs have a special feature called an ice catcher. An ice catcher usually looks like a pinched spot in the main chamber of the device, between the water and the mouthpiece.

Filled with ice, your next bong draw will be exponentially smoother and cooler than without. While it's not necessary to use the ice catcher every time, it does improve inhaling.

Just as with water, fill the ice trap with ice via the mouthpiece. The ice cubes need to be small enough to fit in the mouthpiece, but large enough to "get stuck" in the trap. Break them apart as needed.

3. prepare your weed

Now comes a crucial step in your lesson: preparing the flower. Proper grinding is crucial to ensure even and efficient combustion.

Grinding with a grinder is clearly the best way to grind your CBD weed quickly and evenly. If you don't have a grinder, scissors, fine chopping or a few other grinding tricks can also help.

Don't forget to remove all the sticks and seeds before filling the bowl. Fortunately, when you buy your weed from us, you don't have to worry about seeds.

4. Pack the shell properly

Do you know how to fill the bowl properly?

Here are a few simple tips:

  • A fine grind is better than a coarse grind.
  • Fill the bowl and use your fingers to spread it evenly.
  • Tap the flower lightly to keep it in place but leave a little air.

For the airflow it is very important not to squeeze the weed in the bowl too tight. This because pressing too tightly prevents a good airflow and the even burn throughout the bowl.

5. prepare a drink after inhalation

Big bongs mean big hits. This means that if you draw in the entire chamber in one hit, you'll need a refreshing drink afterwards. Before you take the first hit, do yourself a favor and go to the kitchen to get a cold glass of water.

How to make a bong hit

Although learning how to use a bong may seem like a lot of preparation, setting it up should take a few minutes at most. Since bong rips can be rather harsh, taking the time to get clean water and fresh ice makes a big difference. But after the preparations are complete, it's time to pull a bong.

1. Choose the weapon (flame) of your choice

These days, there's more than one way to skin a cat, as they say. While cheap gas station lighters are still the most popular, some smokers want to get away from disposable lighters. That may mean getting a refillable and stylish Zippo lighter or an intense butane torch. Others want to avoid butane and lighter fluid altogether and opt for matches or hemp wicks.

The only elements you should pay attention to are the precision of the flame and the temperature. Lower burning temperatures (hemp wicks, matches) may be better for preserving the volatile cannabinoids and terpenes.

2. light it up!

Hold your mouth to the mouthpiece and your finger over the carburetor. Flick the lighter away from the bowl and then slowly move it toward the edge. Remember that precision is important here.

If you have a smaller one-hit wonder, dip the flame over the rim of the glass when you start inhaling. You will see the flame being drawn down and into the flower. Keep the flame going until a bright red cherry forms. You should keep it going by inhaling alone as it burns through the bowl and fills the chamber.

3. cornering the bowl

If you have a larger bong, and especially if you share it with friends, you should corner the head. The goal of cornering is to burn off only a small portion (a corner) of the bowl with each puff. This technique preserves fresh weed for the next in line (or for your next pull). Fresh buds always taste better than another pull through the ash.

4. continue to inhale

The longer you inhale, the more smoke passes through the water and fills the reservoir. The greater your lung capacity, the bigger the hit! Once you reach the end of your breath, you can take a break. Hold your thumb over the carburetor and place your other hand on the mouthpiece. Empty your lungs, and get ready for the next puff.

5. take a rip!

Put your mouth back on the mouthpiece, release the carburetor or choke, and inhale. All the smoke from the chamber will flow into your lungs. Of course, you can do this step as fast or as slow as you like. Some people even pause in the middle (hand over the mouthpiece) before taking a second puff.

If you are not familiar with large amounts of THC, you may want to take this step a little slower than your friends. A huge rush of THC into the body may not be a pleasant experience for a beginner.

6. hold your breath

A final and often forgotten step when smoking a bong is holding your breath at the end. In the first few seconds, your lungs absorb all the valuable substances. Holding your breath after a strong puff gives your lungs more time to squeeze the last THC molecules out of the smoke.

Tips for the perfect bong rip

  1. Change the bong water frequently: Nothing is nastier than old bong water. Drain the water after each session and let the bong dry out. Old bong water is the ideal breeding ground for dangerous pathogens that can colonize it.
  2. Regular cleaning is essential: even if you change the water frequently, bongs need to be cleaned regularly. Resin and smoke particles cover the inside of the stem and chamber. The added moisture makes this the perfect breeding ground for microbes. Protect your lungs with a weekly deep cleaning.
  3. Less water reduces splashing: If you notice that water splashes through the mouthpiece when you inhale, you probably have too much water. Add a little less water at the next session to reduce this unpleasant splash back.
  4. Coughing is okay! Do not let anyone shame you for your cough. This is a natural physical reaction that can occur when inhaling a large amount of smoke. Also, coughing is often reported to speed up the onset of intoxication and make the high more intense. Just keep a glass of water handy.
  5. Newbies can take it slow: Don't let peer pressure tempt you into a massive bong rip. It's not uncommon for a beginner to get hit with an unexpected puff. The beauty of a bong is that you can inhale as much or as little as you want. Take it slow and don't follow anyone but yourself.

How to use a bong: The structure and inhalation

For veteran bong smokers, a guide to smoking a bong seems excessive. But even old hands may not know how to make the smoke smoother and the draw better. Part of the lesson is to prepare properly before taking a big puff. That means taking the time to add clean water and ice, and to properly grind the cigarette.

The other lesson for the proper use of a bong is a slow and steady hand when lighting. An excellent, clean burn will ensure a delicious chamber filled with strong smoke. Take your time with this step, and your next session with the bong will be an unforgettable experience.
